Nex @ Serangoon

Owing to the flat viewings, girls companied me to Serangoon area.
After viewing, we went to newly opened shopping centre "NEX" for dinner.

I choosed a restaurant with unique wallpaper.  The food we ordered also has story....
Originated from Yunan, "Cross Bridge Vermicelli " has over a hundred year of history.
Legend is told there lived a studious scholar who like others studied in an island in the middle of south lake.
As he studied very hard, he forgot his meals that were prepared by his devoted wife and were left cold.
Once the wife brewed a chicken soup in a clay pot for the husband.  Later the food remained untouched but
she discovered the food was still hot.  The heat was maintained due to layer of chicken oil and the clay pot.
From then on, she used these method to keep the soup hot and added vermicelli, vegetable and slices of meat into the soup just before eating.
Soon after, others adopted her method of cooking and name the dish "Cross Bridge Vermicelli" as the wife had crossed the bridge daily to the island to deliver the vermicelli to her husband.  Today, "Cross Bridge Vermicelli" is a very popular Yunan dish all over China, and is sometimes called "Love Bridge Vermicelli" because of her devotion.

The rose is surrended with crystal.  quite elegant so that attracted my attention at first glance.
I bought it in order to celebrate the first order I get....two month earlier...
The order is not in time...a lot of stories in between.  Anyway, secure the order finally.

Roof Garden Party

There was a roof garden party to celebrate mid-Autumn Festival.
The buffet was so-so, but the roof view was quite nice.

Selamat Hari Raya

During the Malay New Year, Winni and Grace flew to Singapore to pay me a visit.  We three managed to squeeze ourselves in one bed.  Lucky that both of them are very thin.  We were having lot of fun during that week.
While saying goodbye to each other, we took picture at Changi airport Terminal 3!

Chinese Valentine - Qixi

Qixi Festival (Chinese: 七夕節; Mandarin Pinyin: qī xī jié; Jyutping: cat1 zik6 zit3; literally "The Night of Sevens"), also known as Magpie Festival, falls on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month on the Chinese calendar; thus its name. It also inspired Tanabata (aka. Shichiseki [七夕]) in Japan, Chilseok (칠석) in Korea, and vi:Thất Tịch in Vietnam. It is sometimes called Chinese Valentine's Day (Simplified Chinese: 情人节 Pinyin: Qíng rén jié) in recent decades.

How do I spend my Qixi?  with my dear MANI - after her grown-up, her name changed to a Malay name.  So, MONEY is her nickname during childhood.

Usually, Qixi rains.................tonight, there is no exception!

QB House

I am intended to grow my hair very long.  But, maybe because of age, the growing speed is very slow.  Till now, the lengh is just around my shoulder.  From time to time, I have to trim the hair.  Otherwise, my thick hair will look very very messy.
QB house is everywhere in Singapore.  It is a Japanese chain store - quick cut hair studio.  I ever tried once at Funan centre because our Japanese presidents were coming to Singapore.  This morning, i walked to somerset 313.  Of coure...not because of Singapore National Day la....just because of my hair is so thick and heavy...made me headache.  So, i decided to trim my hair at QB house.
After taking above photo, i want to continue to take photo of vending machine which sell the ticket.  Then, I was stopped by the female hair stylist.  She told me taking pictures are not allowed at QB house.  That's why I only have one photo to show.  I was served by the male stylist.  He is quite cute and talked a lot during his service.  Energetic young boy la!  After trim, i found my hair become lighter!  SGD10 works!!

Orchid in Snail Shell

My orchid is blossomed, just before the National Day of Singapore. What a great sign! The orchid presents its beauty without taking care....no wonder it's the national flower of Singapore.

Vanda Miss Joaquim (simplified Chinese: 卓锦万黛兰; pinyin: zhuójǐn wàndàilán), a hybrid orchid cultivar, is Singapore's national flower.[1]
Born in Singapore on 7 April 1854, Agnes was the eldest daughter of Parsick and Urelia Joaquim. Urelia herself had been born in Singapore in 1828, one of the daughters of pioneering Armenian merchant Isaiah Zechariah and his wife Ashkhen.
Agnes and other family members took a keen interest in horticulture, winning many prizes in the annual flower shows. In April 1899, Agnes showed her hybrid orchid which gained a First Prize as the rarest orchid in the show. As far as we know this is the first time ever for Agnes to have exhibited an orchid. Sadly within three months she was dead having succumbed to illness.
Her orchid however, spread like wildfire throughout the tropics and became very popular in Hawaii.
In 1981, the orchid was chosen as the national flower of Singapore. Thus, fame was assured for both the orchid and for Agnes’ who did not breed the orchid but only found it in her garden.
The actual story is that Vanda Miss Joaquim is a natural hybrid between the Burmese Vanda teres and the Malayan Vanda hookeriana. It is not known which of the two species produced the seeds and which one provided the pollen. When hybrids are made intentionally these facts are known. They are not known for natural hybrids. The hybrid was shown to Henry Ridley, the director of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Ridley examined it, had it sketched and sent a description to the Gardeners' Chronicle writing that:
‘A few years ago Miss Joaquim, a lady residing in Singapore, well-known for her success as a horticulturist, succeeded in crossing Vanda Hookeriana Rchb. f., and V. teres, two plants cultivated in almost every garden in Singapore.’ (Gardeners' Chronicle 24 June 1893, p.740)

Sleeping Beauty

Money is around 2 month old. So, she is like little baby - sleep a lot. Look how peacefully she slept in the bed. Everytime i arrive home after office, i will pet Money. She will be very comfortable (can tell from her face and the noises she made)...then....fall asleep.
When it's around time for me to go to bed. Money is awake. She pretended to sleep with me for a while. Within few minutes, she jump around and play with mobile....something like that. She is so energetic during my sleep. Lucky i only need to prepare her food at side. She will manage to feed herself. Otherwise, I will become sleepless in Singapore la!

Singapore Buddist Lodge

For some reasons, i am looking for temples in Singapore. OK la...for peaceful life.
A Singaporean friend told me there is one near my living cando.
Actually, it's just next street. I managed to locate it on one evening after work.

For weekdays, not so many people gather there. I will pray.....for peaceful life.
I took those pictures on weekends. It's very crowded, isn't it?

Singapore Buddist Lodge is famous for free food and free books.
So far, i haven't tried the vegetarian food at temple.
However, it's a good place offering this kind of service.
May peace upon you.....

Last but not least, i found donation box at second visit.
At fist time, i think evrything is free...ha ha.

My Prince Charming - MONEY

I received a precious gift from Cute Mom's friend. A little kitten was wandering around Woodlands and Princess Wonderland appeared to rescue him. She named him "MONEY".

Money looks like a black-and-white tiger. His chest is snow-white and black stripes are allover the body. Under the sun, you can see ruby color on his back. His eye is light green, which is my recent favorite color.

Money is very decent because he learned how to go to his own toilet from the very first day i brought him home. To this point, i am very satisified. Money is like a baby - sleep a lot (with all kinds of gestures), eat a little bit but several times a day. He likes people to pet him. From his sound, you can tell how excited he was.

Money is about 2 monthes. In other words, he can company me till I become 50. Of course la...i will play my role well to take care of him. After all, he is my prince charming. I love MONEY.

The Hediard

I was told from Cute Mom that this restaurant is very famous in France. Its history was very long and even far before World War. So, Cute Mom and I met at Tanglin Mall on Saturday. Around lunch time, we walked into this European restuarant. The internal decoration as well as outlook are very European...very France. The environment is cozy and comfortable.
I ordered "special Hediard" and Cute Mom ordered "Soup with Cesard Salad". In my impresson, French cusines is small portion. They usually serve with a big plate, but with small amount of food. Here in Hediard is different. My plate is rather big and full of rich food. Food are homemade so the flavour is very fresh. I also looked around their grocery. There are lot of fruit jams and vegetable soups. Because Easter is around the corner, they sell Easter eggs & chocolate as well.
General speaking, it's a very good experience to eat at Hediard. The price is not so high as I imagined. Me SGD40++and Cute Mom SGD30++. Most important of all, we enjoyed the food very much. Even "grass" is tasty. Well, one of my side dish is grass alike. They put sweet source with it.....very very tasty. If i have chance, i will visit this restaurant again. Or when my family or friends come to visit Singapore, i will introduce Hediard to them.

My current favorite - Prawn Noodle (SOUP)

In usual days, I am a food-court girl. Simple as food court food, i find very delicious.
For example, the prawn noodle soup only cost SGD 3.0.
You can eat pork, prawn and noodles.
The only disadvantage is not much vegetables.
well, i enjoy this noodle soup very much.
Almost once a week, i will go to the food court close to NTUC (on Killnery Road).
order this meal from aunti (aunti should know me...ha ha).
Then, find a corner to sit down and enjoy the noodle, the soup and those rich ingredients.
What a simple pleasure! It just brightens my weekends!!

Cute Mom's Birthday

Though Saturday was a raining day, we still go to restaurant for lunch.
Why? Because it's my beloved cute Mom's birthday party.
What else? I was intending to treat cute Mom and HD to Lawry's long time ago.
It could be counted back to few years ago.
They were waiting to be treated after my first salary in Singapore.
My story sometimes is very dramatic....well, i did not earn that salary.
This year, i returned to Singapore and finally...finally....get my first salary here.
My words always count la. So, let's go to Lawry's.

We were the first table customer because we went there 11:30AM.
The music is Latin and the atmosphere is quiet, which i prefer.
I ordered Lawry's cut; HD Singapore cut; and cute Mom is Salmon & Chicken.
Before we started salad, the waitress even had a performance ( a simple dance to make salad).
The ceaser salad is fresh and crunchy....very attemping to move on to main course.
The meat is very juicy and tender. So, even they serve in a big amount, we still managed to finish large potention.
After meal, we have coffee and chocolate. The chocolate flavour is funny - peanut butter.
It's very American - very sweet.
Overall, we enjoyed this lunch at Lawry's very much.
It cost around SGD300. cannot come here very often. But, must come sometimes!

Jura - Swiss Made

The automatic coffee machine is Swiss made and with trendy outlook. Our boss choosed red color.
So, it's very obvious at kitchen corner.
What else, after first time setting-up, the machine is completely automatic.
All you need to do is press bottom and 2 minutes later, you can enjoy hot coffee.

I am thinking to make latte or cappachino tomorrow morning.
Because the vendor told me the way to make foam.
sounded very easy and i really want to give it a try.
How nice that coffee aroma is in the office....

Food Junction

In some countries, people use "tea spoon" to stir coffee. However, in Singapore....there is another story.
The coffee cup is normal size, but spoon is large...i call it "soup spoon".
When I used it at very first time, i found it's interesting.
It's like drinking soup...but not soup at all...it's coffee.

One day, i went to cold storage (supermarket in Singapore) and guess what?
The apples are so cute. They are palm size and the color is scarlet red.
Just cannot help to buy one bag.
After returning to my own place, i put the apple on my OSIM petit sofa.
This is to show how small the apple is.
Taste is not bad, by the way.

Reading to kill time

Chinese New Year this year was very long. It took entire one week. How to kill time, instead of fooling around. I choosed to lend books from national library; walked to Orchard Road; found a relaxing coffee corner (with comfortable sofa).
Then, I ordered some drinks in order to occupy the table. This works all the time.
From time to time, can also see people passing by...observing what they were doing...something like that.
Usually, half a day would pass....in this way, reading really enriches life.

Car Viewing

During holiday period, we went to car viewing. HD was driving and we past by NISSAN. So, we reverted back to view TENANA.
HD and Cute Mom are driving CAMERY now and they want to choose the same category of car.
So, we spent quite a few time over there. Cuta Mom and I even tried the sports car (in blue color).
I was enjoying the free coffee and HD & Cute Mom tried to drive the car in turn.
The overall was quite satisfying, but not in a rush to change a new car.

Then, we went to BMW to locate MINI COOPER.
Cute Mom thought the MINI is fasnating and she wants to try.
Unfortunately, we did went to BMW. There is no MINI COOPER over there.
Well, this is the end of car viewing.

According to Singapore news, many people went car viewing this Chinese New Year.
Which means.....the economy is booming back...ha ha.

Ice Cream Symphony

Yesterday, i went to meidi-ya on my way home. Long time ago, Haagen Daz was very attracting to me. Movenpick is my brother's favorite. My British friends ever told me: must try Ben & Jerry's.
In meidi-ya, they have everything.
I just cannot help to buy a pack of 3 tubs Ben & Jerry's.
After arriving home, i tried chocolate brownie. The falvour is very American....very sweet.
There are still two for trying. Hope I could find my favorite flavour!
I know I am the person who should refuse ice cream. Well, the ice cream can is very small....ha ha

New Castle in Pacific Mansion - uptown girl

After searching from the Internet and viewing some rooms, I decided to move in Pacific Mansion in the beginning of this month. The Pacific Mansion is located in the river valley close. According to HD and Cute Mom, this area is super rich area. Most rich people live in this neighborhood. So, I am lucky again - can live in this area with SGD 1,000 only.

My flatmates are three nationalities. Harry is from Germany but with excellent British accent because he lived in England for a long time. Shan is an accoutant from USA. For me, he is just a boy...ha ha. pretty young la...another girl is from Japan, but i never bump into her. She will appear someday...i think.

Last weekend, I managed to walk from home to Orchard Road. It is amazing close...just few steps and you will be in the town centre. So, I am uptown girl now...ha ha ha.

Thanks to HD and Cute Mom, they sent me TV to entertain my life in Pacific Mansion. I bought an OSIM message sofa to feel even more relaxed in my new castle. Swimming pool is just downstairs. What else can i ask for?

Fish Mart

Who is TOP fish lover in the world? I believe the answer is Japanese. In Singaopre, there are many Japanese restaurants and shops. BUT,
even HD and Cute Mom never visit this fish mart where is located in the west (I was sitting in the car....i don't know la....correct me if i am wrong).
Look at the cute clock. The time is made of shashimi. Lot of cooks were "dealing" with fishes. This fish mart not only provide raw fishes but also hot meals. Besides, they also provide groceries from Japan e.g rice, various sake, snacks, ice creams. It's really a lot. What more, this fish mart has home delivery as well. Cool, isn't it?
More and more discoveries in Singapore....

Lamen - very famous in Japan

Today is Monday. It is not blue Monday, but full Monday. I mean we were very full for today's lunch. HD ordered zhikei men. It's cold noodle and you have to dip warm soup (left bottom pictuer). Cute Mom took miso-lamen. I ordered one set: shio lamen with salad and rice. Though the serving is big, i still managed to finish everything. Well, it's lunch time and i only need to control dinner volume. Excuse...i know la!
The lamen is very yammy. According to HD, it's a franchasing restaurant directly from Japan. In Japan, you have to queue up. Here in Singapore, most of seats are occupied. But, no queue. We are lucky to live in Singapore. Don't you think so?

Singapore General Hospital

In order to get EP - Employment Pass, I have to do genral check-up in the hospital. The biggest general hospital is just near my office (around 2 stops by MRT). So, I choosed to visit this one.

The hospital is very pretty, compared with hospitals in Taiwan. They offer free coffee (american coffee, coffee au lite, cappochino, etc) and hot milo. The overall facilities look very fancy to me.

The only disadvantage is long waiting. For general check up, i only take x-ray and HIV blood testing. But, i spent the whole morning to read magazines in the sofa. Till lunchtime, they start to move...everyone speeds up. I guess it's owing to lunchtime. Maybe they are hungry or something....who knows.

Anyway, i went for collection the other day. My EP will be issued tomorrow.

Shopping weekend

My first weekend in Singapore was extremely busy. Cute Mom and I went shopping at harbour front ( in the middle of pictures). It's a giant shopping mall/centre just cross the bank of Sentosa island. Because Chinse New Year is approaching, great sales began. People purchase like crazy. We were included.
I bought office dresses for entire week and Cute Mom also found something adorable - a white fashionable cloth. We spent whole afternoon there and went back home with great harvest. It's a fruitful hunt....haha.
Singaore is a paradies for shopping la!
